Navigating the Holidays Part 3

The holidays are approaching, in fact one of them just passed. And for many people and for many reasons, the holidays are not an easy part of the year. Some of us dread this time of year. We'd like to stay in bed and pretend it doesn't exist. Does that sound familiar?

That's okay. But since most of us can't pretend the holidays don't exist, what about we figure out some ways to get through the holidays? I will take 7 posts to dive into different ways to navigate the holidays. Join in with me and even chime in.

Part 3: Choose What Parties or Events to Go To

So we've learned in the last tip that it's okay to say no. You know that means that carries into events and parties during the holidays.

You may be thinking, I can't say no to that event or that party. I'm expected to be there, or I have to be there. But you really can do it and you should do it if it's what is best for you.

Just last week was my staff christmas party. I've always struggled going to the christmas party, but most of the time it's because of my introverted personality. However, this was the first year in a few years where the kids were also a part of the dinner at the party. Meaning I would be exposed to all the couples with their babies or kids. That's not exactly a way I wanted to spend my evening. I quickly realized being around all these families would be hard for me, especially when I realized my husband wouldn't be able to go because of his work schedule. So I declined going. And you know what? I'm glad I didn't go. It really is what was best for me.

Most other people won't be looking out or thinking of what's best for you when it comes to fertility delay and how this time of year can impact you. That's why it's so important that you do it for yourself.

Say no to that party or that event. Or maybe only do a pop by if you have to show up because of how someone might respond to you not going.

Your peace of mind is important during this season. And the most important person for you to please at this time of year is God. So pray and ask what you should do, ask Him to help you through this time of year. And then thank HIm because this time of year should be about Him and the gift He gave us.

Is their some party or event you need to give up this year? Share what that is and why you're giving it up this year. What is something you're thankful for this Christmas?
