Find the Good
Learning from Joseph Part 1
One of my favorite Bible stories is the story of Joseph. He went through so much in his life. Let’s get a glimpse of what he went through:
Brothers hated him and pushed him into a pit and sold him into slavery.
While he worked for Potiphar, Potiphar’s wife seduced him and he turned her down; in turn she lied to Potiphar and said that Joseph seduced her.
Potiphar put Joseph in prison.
He was in prison for quite a while, met two men there and one of them got out of prison and after two years told Pharoah that Joseph could translate his dream.
He translated Pharoah’s dream, was released from prison and was made one of Pharoah’s highest commanding men – he was put in charge of the palace and all men.
Joseph was used to save His family.
Let’s look at the passage when he reveals himself to his brothers:
Genesis 45:3-7 NIV
Joseph said to his brothers, “I am Joseph! Is my father still living?” But his brothers were not able to answer him, because they were terrified at his presence. Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
Did you see that? He realized that God used this horrible situation to save his life, and the life of his family. How many of us can say that instead of seeing the negative in our situation, we can see what good has come out of it.
Look at your journey, whether it’s infertility or something else entirely. We all have something throughout our journey we can be thankful for or see something God was doing whether to grow us, prepare us, teach us, help others or be a testament to someone else of what God can do in the midst of suffering or tragedy. I would love for you to comment with what you’re thankful for or what God has done in the midst of your suffering or tragedy.
For me my journey has been all about the process to fertility. As most of you know, I’ve struggled with infertility for 10-14 years, but I believe that’s not my final story. And on the path to the ending of my story that God has promised, I have many things to be thankful for, and many things He’s shown me and taught me through it all:
Place my hope and trust in Him and I won't be disappointed
He’s a promise maker
His time is the perfect time
He has so much for me than I can imagine
He’s a good father, regardless of my circumstances
This journey has brought me even closer to Him than ever before
The sisterhood with other women on the #ttc journey
The ministry and calling He gave me for Embrace Bravery
And that’s just a few of the good I can see through this journey of struggle. He is so much bigger than anything I can see in front of me. It’s time to start believing that.
